Volunteer Coach Application

Volunteer coaches support the Brain Center’s Coaching Program. Coaches are a vital part of Brain Center programming as they help provide a “brave space” for individuals to ask questions, get connected, and feel understood.

Ideal candidates would have a current or former connection to the medical field (i.e. retired nurse, physician, PA, etc.).  Additional preference for individuals with  “lived experience”.  This includes being a care partner or providing support for someone with a neurodegenerative disease.  Qualifications may support expertise around a particular neurodegenerative disease or condition (Parkinson’s Disease, dementia, stroke, etc.). Interest and involvement may also be a general desire to help advance the brain health movement.

Core coaching components include research-informed brain wellness education and risk reduction strategies (6 Pillars of Brain Health), injury prevention, and goal setting based on the individual's unique needs, experiences, and abilities.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Passion for promoting the 6 Pillars of Brain Health

  • Desire to work with individuals and families impacted by neurological disease

  • Participation in coach/educator gatherings
